What information do we, StackTricks.com, collect?

Wedo not collect personal information from users that can be used or reverse engineered to identify them individually. Some services we use, such as Google Analytics and Google Adsense may collect and assume certain demographic information based on the data collected.

Information we collect includes:

    Why? So we can identify the geograpic location of the IP address for research and demographic analysis, as well as block malicious users from accessing or abusing our services. It is a function of the internet for our servers to receive the IP address of other machines or networks that make requests to them.

    Why? To study the behavior of traffic on our website in order to ensure we produce engaging, useful content to visitors, as well as provide engagement data to advertisors.
  • Which pages you visit on our website
    Why? To study the behavior of traffic on our website in order to ensure we produce engaging, useful content to visitors, as well as provide engagement data to advertisors.
  • Which page or domain name (i.e somewebsite.com) you were on just before visiting our website
    Why? To study the behavior of traffic on our website in order to ensure we produce engaging, useful content to visitors, understand the context in which visitors may end up on our website, as well as provide engagement data to advertisors.
  • How you interact with our website
    Why? To study the behavior of traffic on our website in order to ensure we produce engaging, useful content to visitors, ensure traffic to our website is not malicious & so we can take the appropriate actions if it is, as well as provide engagement data to advertisors.
  • Your "User Agent" or device string
    Why?To ensure our website is useful for multiple types of browsers and devices, to understand and study demographic information by device and/or browser so we can create contextually useful content, and provide engagement or usage data to our advertisors.

Please be aware that none of this information can identify you. Some or all of it may be used to some extent to deliver ads on our pages.

As of writing, do not collect your email-address, name, physical address, or any other piece of data that can be used to personally identify an individual when combined.

In the future, we may give you the option to log in and leave comments, or provide us an email address to subscribe to a newsletter. However, we do not collect this information automatically - you will be required to opt-in to it and manually provide it to us at your discretion.

Exceptions

While we strive to provide engaging content and ensure your data and information is kept private, we also understand that the data we collect and have access to via third party tools may collect or use additional information that may or may not render it possible to identify any one individual.

We strongly encourage you to visit the privacy policy of the third party vendors, and opt-in or out of their services. This gives you have the broadest control over how your data is used, even outside of StackTricks.com; disabling Google Analytics or Google Adsense's Personalized Ads exclusively on our website will not disable them on other websites that may also use them.

How we handle use Cookies

We only use cookies where necessary for the functionality of our website, and as instantiated by Google Analytics and Google Adsense.

We may display a banner notifying you that we use cookies for performance or advertising, and will give you the option to opt-out of them.

If you decide to decline the use of cookies on our website, we will continue using either a cookie or browser-storage entry (i.e localstorage) to ensure we do not use unnecessary cookies as you interact with our website.

How to request a copy of or the removal of data

Because we don't collect directly personally identifiable information, we will need you to provide us with the information we do collect, so we may destroy it.

You may send a request to privacy@stacktricks.com and include the following information:

  • Tell us whether you want a copy of your data, or for your data to be destroyed, or both
  • Provide us your public IP address, so we may find the data in our analytics or ad systems

Please note that in sending an email to us, you are inherently providing us with an email address, which is considered to be personally identifiable information. In addition to this, if you include your name, phone number, or any other information other than the above outlined in the instructions, such information is personally identifiable information.

In short, when you email us requesting a copy of your data, or to delete your data, the data you share with us about you in the email is at your own discretion -- do not share with us any information about you which you do not want us to have.

Please note: in the event you request a copy of your data or for your data to be deleted, we will respond to the email updating you on our actions to fulfill your request. Within 30 days of the request being fulfilled, we will delete the email permanently from our records in an effort to continue respoecting your right to privacy
